AXELROD ENERGY PROJECTS

Founded in 2007, New York-based Axelrod Energy Projects provides services to the international energy and oil industries. Through its global network and market knowledge, value-added offerings include: project development, cargo brokerage, and consulting.

In keeping with the theme of facilitation and understanding, AEP organizes the World Fuel Oil Summit which is held annually in the Mediterranean.

Lawrence Axelrod

Lawrence Axelrod

Lawrence Axelrod is founder and principal of Axelrod Energy Projects (AEP). Mr. Axelrod’s activities span consulting, project development, and cargo brokerage. Mr. Axelrod created and edited the monthly publication Fuel Oil & Feedstock Trader, before overseeing its sale in May 2017. Mr. Axelrod organizes the annual World Fuel Oil Summit (held each year in the Mediterranean) and co-organizes the annual London bunker roundtable. Prior to launching Axelrod Energy Projects in 2007, Mr. Axelrod developed and headed the international fuel oil practice at Poten & Partners. Earlier in his career, he was a staff petroleum economist with W.J. Levy Consultants and a staff reporter for Petroleum Intelligence Weekly. He holds a PhD in political science from Columbia University, where his doctoral dissertation assessed the economic and political determinants of Saudi oil policy.

Jesse Axelrod

Jesse Axelrod

Jesse Axelrod is responsible for brokerage of physical oil and project development. Mr. Axelrod has negotiated deals between trading companies, refiners, bunker companies, and state oil companies. His product purview includes: crude oil, gasoil, fuel oil, straight-run fuel oil (SRFO), vacuum gasoil (VGO) and recycled oils. Mr. Axelrod developed cargo business into/out of the US, Caribbean, West Africa, the Mediterranean and FSU and is responsible for AEP’s expansion into domestic truck, rail, and barge business. Prior to his work as a broker, Mr. Axelrod researched and wrote for Fuel Oil & Feedstock Trader. Mr. Axelrod holds a BA from George Washington University and is an MBA candidate at NYU Stern School of Business.

Project Development

Axelrod Energy Projects assists in developing energy-related projects. AEP introduces project partners and facilitates negotiations. Projects include long-term fuel and oil supply or offtake agreements, pre-financing agreements, product swap agreements, and the sale of new or used refining, power generation, storage, and shipping assets. AEP can bring strategic equity and debt financing to energy projects.

Cargo Brokerage

Axelrod Energy Projects provides physical brokerage services for regional and worldwide energy traders. AEP has experience handling and closing commercial transactions in crude oil, clean products, fuel oil, heavy feedstock and cutterstock on both a term and spot basis, delivered or FOB. We broker movements via ship, barge, rail, and truck.

Consulting

Axelrod Energy Projects offers bespoke studies on commercial aspects of market segments of the oil trade including: supply, demand, sourcing, outlets, logistics, and pricing. AEP can assess market conditions surrounding a potential project or provide an overview of market dynamics and participants. AEP can consider retainer agreements on a case-by-case basis.
